Intentionality.

Meet Lydia and Bee Hopewell, wives and owner/operators at Pair of Violets.

Our wedding planning and coordination journey started years ago. We were officially engaged after a double proposal in July 2020 and booked our fall 2021 wedding venue and photographer quickly after. Three months later in October, the Supreme Court publicized their intent to overturn marriage equality and our timeline suddenly moved up.

In just 5 short weeks we planned a COVID-conscious mini ceremony and reception with 15 of our closest friends and family. We were legally married in political protest by our best friend on November 8, 2020 - coincidentally, the same day the 2020 election was called.

Then, we planned a second larger ceremony and reception with 100 people we loved in November 2021!

Every piece of our wedding(s) was intentional and incorporated our chosen family and shared values, including our day-of wedding coordinator — Joy, a former event planner and current mentor and friend. When it came time for Joy’s own wedding to her partner, Sam, a year later, we were honored and delighted to fulfill the coordinator role for our friends on their special day.

We made it our mission to be a force of positivity and light, to make worries or anxiety be the furthest thing from their minds as we ran rehearsal, decorated, pivoted as needed, problem solved, communicated with vendors, and made sure the timing of everything was absolutely perfect. That day, we found our calling.
